Case got his picture taken today (in utero) for the very last time (barring any emergencies, of course)! And, although I think Brian and I are pretty photogenic people, our son (at least from the womb) is not. The technician gave me only two pictures to take home. The other 20 pictures she took were of his organs, spine, my cervix, and the placenta (which, by the way, is pretty large and weighs 1.5 lbs!).
As of right now, Case is in a breech position with his head just under my right breast and butt sitting low in the left portion of my pelvis. His legs are stretched out towards the right side of me. In the next month or so he'll make is way downward, head first, towards the canal in preparation for birth!
From all her measurements, Case is weighing a whopping 2 lbs 11 ounces and she said he'll be at 3 lbs probably by this time next week! The books say that at 28 weeks (she found me to be, as of today, at 28 weeks & 5 days) he's around 16 inches long, although she wasn't able to give me exact measurements. His heart rate was the same at 135 bpm.
He still looks a bit like an alien, but the technician convinced me that it was the ultrasound and not how he actually looks (and yes, I did say,"He still looks like an alien to me," while she desperately tried to get a shot of him not looking so much like an alien - to no avail). Oh well! If he comes out looking like E.T. we'll love him anyway! Brian always really liked that movie...
Tomorrow's my big gestational diabetes test at my prenatal appointment, where, as my mother-in-law reminded me this evening, I'll have to drink that yucky stuff and then wait and wait. All in a day's work, I guess. I am growing a baby. :)
